LGSETA Design Thinking, March 5-8

Our second week in Pretoria started with a Design Thinking workshop sponsored by LGSETA for about 25 participants from municipal, metro, provincial, union, SALGA, and Sector offices.  We used a board room at the South Africa Local Government Association (SALGA) headquarters in Menlyn; I was impressed with the level of focus, enthusiasm, and forthrightness evinced by all.  When lunch came late, they just kept on going without a complaint.

This was the first time any of the three IBMers had used the methodology to facilitate a requirements and brainstorming session and it worked well.  We relied heavily in preparation on our local provincial manager, Idani. She, her staff, and Iris from the City of Tshwane, really came through for us.  It was a long day and we learned a lot about the challenges facing the local government sector when it comes to skills development planning and tracking.  The rest of the week was spent on working through the workshop results and on follow up interviews with CoGTA and other SETAs set up by our Sector focal point, Josie. Because we planned to work an upcoming Saturday, this was a four day week and a three day weekend.  #CSCZA19 #IBMCSA
